Founded in 1993 by Robert Nichols, UDCP, who has hearing loss, Nichols Design Associates—formerly known by another name—works closely with private and public clients, as well as appropriate nonprofit organizations, to create sustainable, universal design, DeafSpace and Deaf environmental design, contemporary design, and planning solutions for residential, historic, commercial interior, and government projects.
With more than 35 years of experience working in private design firms, Robert Nichols brings extensive expertise in architectural and design services. His approach is the result of a lifelong commitment to learning, listening carefully to clients, and continually improving in order to deliver the highest level of professional service possible.
Robert Nichols is a Universal Design Certified Professional (UDCP), a designation recognized by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. This certification reflects his experience and skill in all aspects of universal design and remodeling for residents with disabilities. He is also a member of the American Institute of Architects, the AIA/DC Chapter, and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
